Women's Cross Country Heads to Pre-Nationals Ranked No. 18

September 28, 2022

Sept. 28, 2022 – The Loras College women's cross country team remains the No. 18-ranked team in Division III in the latest set of United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division III Top-35 Ratings Index on Wednesday.

The Duhawks last competed two weeks prior at the National Catholic Championship, hosted by the University of Notre Dame on Sept. 17, coming away as the top-Division III team and taking third overall. Kassie Parker earned American Rivers Conference and national recognition for her record-setting performance after smashing the 5-kilometer school record by more than 30 seconds (17:02.06) and taking the title by more than ten seconds over second-place finisher Olivia Markezich from Notre Dame who finished just outside the top-ten at the NCAA Division I Cross Country National Championship in 2021.

SUNY-Geneseo and A-R-C rival Wartburg College remain the No. 1 and 2 teams in the nation from a week prior followed by the University of Chicago in third and Johns Hopkins University in fourth. Claremont-Mudd-Scripps ranks fifth and Washington University (Mo.) checks in at No. 6. Massachusetts Institute of Technology ranks seventh and Amherst College ranks eighth with the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse coming in at No. 9 and Pomona-Pitzer rounding out the top-ten. Four of the top-five teams in the Midwest Region are represented in the top-20 and the A-R-C has two ranked teams and Central College receiving votes.

The Duhawks travel to Michigan on Oct. 1 for the Pre-Nationals Meet at Forest Akers East Golf Course in East Lansing, Mich. The women's varsity race begins at 10:30 A.M. (ET) and the open 6-kilometer race takes off at noon.
