(RV) Women’s Basketball Routs Nebraska Wesleyan 90-31

Feb. 11, 2023 – It might take the (RV) Loras College women's basketball team a while to replicate a winning margin like the one it produced on Saturday afternoon as the Duhawks throttled Nebraska Wesleyan University 91-30 at Lillis Court.

The Duhawks (19-4, 12-2 A-R-C) flirted with the program record for largest margin of victory on Saturday as the 61-point win over the Prairie Wolves (6-16, 2-12 A-R-C) fell just five points shy of the record. Loras defeated Elmhurst University 111-45 back in 1993, setting the program record with a 66-point margin of victory.

Saturday's contest mirrored the one these two teams played in Lincoln, Neb. back on Feb. 14. The Duhawks emerged with another lopsided result, a 91-43 victory. This season, the Duhawks' average margin of victory over NWU is 54.5 points.

Loras' 91 points Saturday is the second time it had reached 90+-points this season, both times against NWU.

Only one Duhawk scored in double figures on Saturday, and that was senior guard Cassidy Maroszek. Maroszek finished with 11 points, easily marking a new career-high for the Duhawks' sixth man in the game after she finished 3-for-6 from three-point range.

Freshman Jessie Yelaska also set a new career-high as she finished with six points after having a total of five from her previous five appearances for the Duhawks.

Sophomore Emerson Whittenbaugh and graduate student Hannah Thiele each finished with nine points off the bench while starters Cierra Bachmann, Madison Fleckenstein, and Sami Martin each totaled seven in their limited action in the first half.

Loras smothered the Prairie Wolves on defense from the start of the game and forced 34 turnovers, leading to a season-high 25 steals for the Duhawks.

The Duhawks are back in action on Wednesday, Feb. 15 when they head down the road to face the University of Dubuque at 5:30 P.M. in the penultimate game of the 2022-23 regular season.
