DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Loras College women's soccer team came out firing on all cylinders as it took down the Knights of Wartburg College, 6-1, Tuesday evening at the Rock Bowl.
The Duhawks wasted no time as
Bella Scesniak netted one home only 30 seconds into the game off assists from
Reagan Lindsay and
Savannah Johnson.
Just minutes after,
Isabel Russmann joined in on the scoring as she slipped one past the Knights goalkeeper off an assist from Lindsay.
The goals kept on coming as
Athena Sheets put her name in the box score with a goal at the 18:41-mark off assists from Lindsay and
Kaighin Frost.
Lauren Riggle followed suit as she tallied one home of an assist from Johnson.
Scesniak and Riggle rounded out the scoring for the Duhawks with their second goals of the night off assists from Lindsay and Frost respectively.
Loras (13-0-0, 4-0-0 A-R-C) outshot Wartburg (8-5-2, 4-1-0 A-R-C) 24-4, 18 of which were on target for the Duhawks, compared to three on frame for the Knights.
Late in the half, the Knights put themselves on the board as Natalie Thiesfeld managed to get one by the Duhawks goalkeeper.
Kyndal Kells and
Rachel Wandless collected a combined two saves on the night to earn the Purple and Gold victory.
Up Next: The Duhawks travel to Indianola, Iowa, Saturday, Oct. 19 for a battle against the Storm of Simpson College. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m.
