Watson Earns Fourth All-Conference Accolade as Duhawks Earn Second Place Finish at A-R-C Championships

November 2, 2024

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The Loras College men's cross country team secured a second-place finish, as well as having four runners earn All-Conference honors at the 2024 American Rivers Conference Championship Saturday afternoon.

Leading the pack for the Duhawks was senior Julian Watson, who became a four-time All-Conference runner with a seventh-place finish and a time of 24:47.2. Just a few places behind came Isaac Bourne who claimed 10th place with a time of 24:58.8.

Rounding out the All-Conference finishers came by way of Jacob Belha and Carlo Dannenfelser. Belha finished in 16th place with a time of 25:09.1, while Dannenfelser checked into 20th place just six seconds later with a time of 25:15.8.

The Duhawks had 17 out of 22 men run personal bests with the other five running season bests. Earning the final points for the Purple and Gold were Eric Rutherford (23rd – 25:20.9), Jack Beehler (28th – 25:34.7), and Landis Musser (50th – 26:03.1).

"Both teams did what was realistic for themselves against highly ranked national and regional opponents and the men improved by 29 for the 1-5 spread," said head coach Ethan Adlfinger.

The Duhawks look to improve in the next two weeks as they prepare for the regional championship.

Up Next: Loras will travel to Saukie Golf Course in Rock Island, Ill. to compete in the NCAA Division III Midwest Regional Championship. Races begin at 12 p.m.
