Four Duhawks Earn Individual Titles at UD Jim Fox Invite

November 2, 2024

DUBUQUE, Iowa - The Loras College men's wrestling team competed in their first competition of the year, wrestling at the University of Dubuque Jim Fox Invite on Saturday.

The Duhawks crowned four champions on the day: Wiley Jessup (125 lbs), Jalen Schropp (141 lbs), Kolten Crawford (149 lbs), and Landry Barker (184 lbs).

Jessup started his day off hot, securing bonus point victories in his first two matches (22-3 tech fall and 1:53 fall). After an 11-6 win in the semifinals, he ended his tournament with another fall in 2:45 for the title.

A pinning machine, Schropp collected three pins, including one in the finals, on his way to gold. Notably, all his pins were under 1:30, signaling a quick day at the office.

Like Jessup, Crawford also kicked his tournament off with multiple bonus point wins (4:50 fall and 19-1 tech fall). He continued his winning ways with a 10-4 win in the semifinals and a 6-1 decision in the finals to finish atop the bracket.

Barker looked good all day, grabbing a 14-5 major decision in his first match before winning 7-2 in the semifinals. In the finals, he kept scoring points on his way to a 13-1 major decision for the championship.

Along with the four champions, the Purple and Gold posted a handful of place-winners, including multiple wrestlers in some weight classes.
