DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Loras College women's basketball team completed the season sweep over Buena Vista University with a 90-32 victory on Wednesday evening on Lillis Court.
The Duhawks struck first with a
Sami Martin layup 1:10 into the contest and never took their foot off the gas. The Loras (19-3 overall, 11-2 American Rivers Conference) defense held the Beavers to single digit first and second quarters and owned a 31-point lead (41-10) over the visitors at the half.
The Purple and Gold went on to outscore Buena Vista (2-18, 1-12) 49-22 in the second half to secure their 19
th victory of the season.
Martin led the Duhawks with 21 points and 10 rebounds. She shot 7-of-13 from the floor and was a perfect 7-of-7 from the charity stripe.
Claire Wagner added in 12 points and five boards, while
Silvana Scarsella and
Lexi Beier chipped in 10 points apiece. Scarsella also dished out a game-high five assists, while
Daniella Jarrell totaled five steals. As a team, Loras shot 45.1 percent (32-of-71) from the field and 33.3 percent (10-of-30) from downtown.
