MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Loras College men's and women's track and field program wrapped up its season Saturday at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium in Myrtle Beach, S.C., with six individuals and two relay teams earning All-American honors in their respective events at the 2024 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
Overall, the No. 5 women finished fourth with 43 team points, while the No. 9 men finished in a tie for 27
th with eight points. Washington University in St. Louis placed first on the women's side with 71 team points, followed by the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. On the men's side, UW-La Crosse finished first with 76 team points, followed by UW-Oshkosh with 48.
Taylor Flaig and
Caitlyn Cox began the final day of competition with the hammer throw. Flaig became an All-American for the first time in her career after the senior from Tripoli, Iowa, finished 10
th after tossing 52.93 meters (173-8), placing her on the Second Team. Meanwhile, Cox earned Second Team All-American honors for the first time in her outdoor career after finishing 15
th at 49.96 meters (163-11).
Harmony Creasy,
Alyssa Pfadenhauer,
Kelly Kohlhof, and
Emma Seipel combined to earn First Team All-American honors in the 4x100-meter relay race, as the quartet finished second with a time of 46.18.
Pfadenhauer earned a second set of honors in the final day of competition after placing sixth in the 400-meter race. The graduate student out of West Burlington, Iowa, finished the race with a season-best time of 55.53.
Wrapping up competition for the women's team was
Grace Alley, who finished 10
th in the triple jump – earning herself Second Team All-American honors.
On the men's side, the 4x100-meter relay team of
De'Andre Klein,
Josh Smith,
Derik Bunten, and
Dayvion Foreman finished eighth, earning them First Team All-American status. Also racing on the track was
Joe Franke, who closed out the 800-meter finals in fifth place after crossing the finish line in 1:49.67- earning himself First Team All-American honors.
In the field,
Holden Murphy earned himself his third All-American distinction after placing 12
th. The Benton, Wis., native threw 57.74 meters (189-5). Previously, Murphy earned All-American honors in the shot put and discus in the first twodays of competition at the Championships.
