Men's and Women's Cross Country Place First at Inaugural Bob Schultz Invite

DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Loras College men's and women's cross country teams had successful outings at the inaugural Bob Schultz Invite, with both teams placing first to open up their 2024 seasons.

Eric Rutherford was the top finisher coming in third in the men's 5K, locking in a time of 15:20.2. Following closely behind Rutherford, was junior Isaac Bourne who finished in fourth place (15:21.4), while Julian Watson (15.24.5) and Jacob Belha (15:29.6) placed sixth and eighth respectively.

Jack Beehler (15:49.1 – 12th), Max Lowe (15:52.9 – 13th), and Will Yasdick (15:56.7 – 14th) rounded out the Duhawks who finished in the top 15.

Senior Frankie Chaidez was the top performer in the women's 5K, coming in second with a time of 18:57.5. Becca Diddia clocked in just one second behind Chaidez to earn a third-place finish with a time of 18:58.5. Under two minutes later, Bailey Vaughan crossed the finish line to place seventh with a time of 19:40.1. Natalia Wrobel (20.11.3 –10th), Lily Molloy (20:12.2 – 11th), Ivy Glendening (20:21.9 – 12th), and Hannah Landwehr (20:33.4 – 15th) rounded out the top runners for the Purple and Gold.

Up Next: The Duhawks will travel to Detweiller Park in Peoria, Ill. in three weeks to compete at the Bradley Intercollegiate on Friday, Sept. 20.
