Duhawks Collect Two Wins at A-R-C Duals

INDIANOLA, Iowa - The Loras College men's wrestling team finished 2-1 at the American Rivers Conference Duals on Saturday.

The Duhawks fell 19-17 to No. 19-ranked Luther College in a hard-fought dual. Connor Fiser (125 lbs) opened the dual on a strong note, securing a 7-3 decision. Luther responded at 133 lbs, earning a major decision to take the lead. The Norse extended their lead at 141 lbs with another major decision.

Chase Fiser (149 lbs) swung the momentum back in favor of the Purple and Gold with an impressive technical fall, 19-4, in just 4:14. However, Luther answered with a dominant technical fall at 157 lbs. Dustin Bohren (165 lbs) narrowed the gap for Loras with a clutch 4-0 decision.

At 174 lbs, Zeb Gnida continued the Duhawk's push with his 7-2 win to bring the team closer. Landry Barker (184 lbs) followed with a narrow 4-2 decision, giving the Purple and Gold crucial points. Despite Loras' rally, the Norse secured decisions at 197 lbs and heavyweight to seal the victory for Luther.

The Duhawks bounced back against Nebraska Wesleyan University, steamrolling to a 43-6 win. Connor Fiser set the tone early with a fall in just 2:34. Wiley Jessup (133 lbs) followed with a dominant technical fall, 19-2, in under three minutes. Although Nebraska Wesleyan picked up a narrow decision at 141 lbs, Chase Fiser answered with a fall in 2:15 to regain momentum at 149 lbs.

Allen Catour (157 lbs) kept the pressure on with a 17-1 technical fall, and Bohren added another fall in 2:57. At 174 lbs, Luke Battaglia fought his way to a hard-earned 15-11 decision, while Alex Watson (197 lbs) pinned his opponent in 5:30. In the heavyweight match, Jonah Clark capped off the dual in emphatic fashion with a fall in just 1:18.

Loras ended the day with a commanding victory over Simpson College, 47-5. Connor Fiser opened the dual with a 19-4 technical fall, while Nosa Egbon (141 lbs) earned an 18-6 major decision. Chase Fiser continued his dominant run with a 20-4 technical fall in 4:22.

Catour and Bohren added back-to-back technical falls, while Battaglia provided the highlight of the dual with a lightning-fast pin in just 23 seconds. Barker added six points via forfeit. Watson secured another technical fall, 18-2, in just over five minutes as Sage Walker (Hwt) closed the dual with a fall in 5:46.

The Purple and Gold return to the mat as they host the Loras Open on Saturday, Feb. 1. Wrestling is set to begin at 9 a.m.
