WAUKESHA, Wis. - The Loras College women's volleyball team pushed Carroll University to the brink in a competitive nonconference matchup Wednesday night, but the Pioneers came away with a 3-1 win inside Van Male Fieldhouse. Set scores were 34-32, 15-25, 26-24, and 25-22.
 The Duhawks came out firing in a thrilling opening set that featured 10 lead changes and 16 ties. Loras (6-16, 2-3 A-R-C) held off multiple set points before narrowly falling, 34-32. The Duhawks bounced back with an impressive response in set two, hitting .250 as a team to take a dominant 25-15 win and even the match.
Despite strong play through the final two frames, Carroll (14-12, 2-3 CCIW) held off late Loras rallies to secure the win in sets three and four.
Junior
Cat Meyer led the Loras attack with 13 kills, while
Sophie Younkin and
Elaina Schroeder followed closely with 12 and 11, respectively.
Emily Mohr directed the offense with 22 assists, while
Alyssa Daughenbaugh chipped in 19 of her own.
Defensively, the Duhawks were anchored by
Lucie Lambe, who tallied a team-high 30 digs, and
Iva Senio, who added 25.
Carrah Bainbridge contributed 14 digs, rounding out a strong back-row effort. At the net,
Autumn Finch, Schroeder, and Mohr each recorded three blocks.
Loras finished with 51 kills on a .132 hitting percentage.
