DUBUQUE, Iowa — The Loras College women's soccer team stayed unbeaten with a dominant 5-0 win over Buena Vista University on Saturday evening in the Rock Bowl.
The No. 19 Duhawks (9-0-1, 2-0-0 A-R-C) controlled the match from start to finish, outshooting the Beavers 35-1 and holding a 22-0 advantage on corner kicks.
Ivy Wessel opened the scoring in the seventh minute off an assist from
Emerson Gasmann, and
Belle Johnson doubled the lead in the 40th minute with help from
Sierra Morgano.
Loras pulled away in the second half as
Katie Callahan scored in the 70th minute off assists from
Allie Stubbendick and
Mayte Navejas, Gasmann added another in the 72nd from Navejas, and
Emily Bowe capped the scoring in the 76th with help from
Morgan Lyon.
Goalkeepers
Hannah Fedinec and
Georgia Arhos combined for the shutout, making one save. Buena Vista (3-7-1, 0-2-0) was paced in net by Maia Jaroch, who stopped 11 shots.
The victory was a milestone for head coach
Matt Pucci, who earned his 150th career win in his 10th season leading the program.
