INDIANOLA, Iowa – The Loras College women's tennis team wrapped up the regular season with a 7-0 win over Simpson College on Saturday morning. With the win, the Duhawks have secured the six seed in the American Rivers Conference Tournament.
Alexis Tatum and
Brooke Burger got Loras off to a quick start with a 6-1 win over Gracie Thompson and Natalie Collins at No. 3 doubles.
Mary Breitbach and
Megan Covelli won a hard-fought match over Coilee Hynek and Savana Walls, 7-5, at No. 1 before
Ellie Kalina and
Saydie Roling locked up the doubles point with another 7-5 win at No. 2.
Taking a 1-0 lead into singles play, the Duhawks never looked back, sweeping all six matches.
Breitbach was a winner at No. 1, 6-0, 6-0 while
Lauren Keiper was the next Duhawk to win a point, defeating Thompson 6-0, 6-1, at No. 6. Roling was a 6-1, 6-3 winner at the No. 5 position along with Tatum at No. 3, 6-1, 7-6. Kalina and Covelli would go onto complete the sweep with 6-3, 6-2 and 6-2, 6-4 wins, respectively.
Up Next: The Purple and Gold will await their first round opponent for the A-R-C Tournament on Friday Oct. 10. Match time is already scheduled for 10 AM.
