DUBUQUE, Iowa – Director of Athletics
Denise Udelhofen ('90) has announced the hiring of Logan Stroman as the next head coach of the Loras College men's and women's track and field teams. Stroman joins Loras after serving as an assistant coach of cross country and track and field for the Coe College Kohawks this past season.
"I'm thrilled to welcome Logan Stroman as our new head men's and women's track & field coach," said Udelhofen. "His passion for the sport and dedication to developing student-athletes perfectly aligns with our mission of fostering excellence on and off the track. His energy and enthusiasm will be a tremendous addition to our athletic staff as he leads both programs. We're excited to have Logan and his family join the Duhawk community."
At Coe, Stroman directly coached the sprints, hurdles, long jump, triple jump, and high jump events. He designed and implemented Olympic-style strength training programs utilizing the Tri-Phasic method, incorporating plyometrics, sport-specific adjustments, and ballistic and multi-jump exercises to enhance performance. Additionally, he played a key role in recruiting, helping to secure the largest incoming men's class in program history.
"I'd like to thank
Denise Udelhofen and the search committee for the opportunity to lead this incredible program," said Stroman. "I'm truly honored and excited to join a tradition of excellence in track and field and cross country. There's been a lot of success here over the years, and I'm eager to build on that foundation. I can't wait to get started, connect with our student-athletes, and begin this season on the right foot together."
Prior to Coe, he led the women's cross country and track and field programs at Widener University from 2016 to 2023. During his tenure, the Pride reached new heights, setting 19 school records, earning 19 individual Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) titles, and producing three All-Americans. In 2022–23, his squad swept the conference championships in cross country, indoor, and outdoor track to secure the program's first-ever MAC Triple Crown. That same year, Stroman was named the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Metro Region Cross Country Coach of the Year after guiding Widener to its first regional championship and NCAA team appearance.
At Lebanon Valley College from 2013 to 2016, he worked across all six track and field and cross country programs. He specialized in coaching sprinters, middle-distance, distance runners, and jumpers, while designing and implementing the strength and conditioning program. His student-athletes achieved success as six earned NCAA Division III All-America honors, including one national champion, 29 MAC individual titles, and 39 new school records. The women's program also captured the 2014 MAC Indoor Track & Field Championship under his guidance.
Before his collegiate coaching career, Stroman coached at Chaska High School in Minnesota for three seasons, where he helped the boys and girls track and field teams set eight school records and achieve a top 10 state championship finish.
A former NCAA Division I All-American himself, Stroman competed for the University of Minnesota, where he was part of four Big Ten championship teams and earned an NCAA bronze medal in the 2010 indoor distance medley relay. He specialized in the 400, 600, and 800-meter events as well as the 400-meter hurdles.
A native of Chaska, Minnesota, Stroman holds both a bachelor's degree in kinesiology with a coaching minor and a master's degree in applied kinesiology from the University of Minnesota. He is a USA Track & Field Level 1 certified coach and a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).
Stroman is set to officially begin his duties with the Duhawks on Monday, Nov. 17.
