DUBUQUE, IOWA - The Loras College women's basketball team suffered a 68-59 setback to the Central College Dutch on Saturday afternoon on Lillis Court.

The game was tight early on, with multiple lead changes in the first half. The defenses were firing on all cylinders, both sides stifling one another. The stout defensive performance from both squads led to the score being locked at 35 apiece at halftime.

After the break, Central (12-10, 5-8 A-R-C) came out and put pedal to the metal, outscoring the Duhawks 14-6 in the third quarter. Despite some great effort and defensive plays of their own, the Duhawks never saw the lead again.

Claire Wagner and
Emerson Whittenbaugh led the charge for the Duhawks, with 18 and 14 points respectively. Wagner also had five rebounds, an assist and a steal, while Whittenbaugh added four rebounds, an assist and a steal.
Silvana Scarsella tallied 12 points of her own, as well as six rebounds and seven assists. As a team Loras (8-13, 5-7) shot 40.0 (22-of-55) percent from the floor and 77.8 (7-of-9) from the charity stripe.

The Dutch were the beneficiaries of great performances by sisters CeCe Moore and Gabby Moore. The sophomore-senior duo was good for 27 points as well as seven rebounds. Emily Naughton added to the Dutch performance, providing 14 points, four rebounds, and five assists. The visitors shot 47.2 (25-of-53) percent from the floor and 100.0 (8-of-8) from the free throw line.
