June 24, 2025

DUBUQUE, Iowa – Five student-athletes from the Loras College men's cross country and track and field teams have been named to the 2024–25 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team, as announced Tuesday by the organization.

Eric Rutherford, Carter Allen, Matt Kruse, Ted Kruse, and Eli Pflipsen were all recognized for their combined success in academics and athletics. Allen, Matt Kruse, and Ted Kruse earned the honor for the second time in their careers, while Rutherford and Pflipsen received the distinction for the first time.

To be eligible for CSC Academic All-District recognition, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, hold a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher (unrounded), and meet performance standards based on TFRRS rankings. For cross country, nominees must have placed in the top 50 at the 2024 NCAA regional meet; for track and field, athletes must rank in the top 50 regionally in at least one event, indoor or outdoor.

The Academic All-District program honors the top student-athletes across the nation for their excellence in both academics and athletics. Academic All-America selections—first, second, and third teams—will be announced on wednesday, July 16.
