CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Five Loras College athletes were named American Rivers Conference Athletes of the Week across two sports and five programs, the league announced Monday.
The Duhawks swept both cross country awards after standout performances at the Bradley Intercollegiate.
Isaac Bourne was named Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week after placing second out of 100 runners with a personal-best time of 24:12.80, tying the school record. He was the top Division III finisher, helping No. 30 Loras place third overall behind Division I programs Bradley and Saint Louis. On the women's side,
Keelee Leitzen earned the weekly honor after finishing 23rd with a time of 17:59.30, the fastest Division III performance in the field and the second-fastest time in program history. The women's team finished fifth overall, trailing only Division I and II opponents. Both squads will compete next at the Paul Short Invitational in Bethlehem, Pa., on Friday, Oct. 3.
The women's soccer program swept the A-R-C weekly awards for the second consecutive week.
Mayte Navejas was named Offensive Athlete of the Week after scoring the first two goals of her collegiate career, both of which were game-winners.
Hannah Fedinec collected Defensive Athlete of the Week honors after posting two shutouts to bring her season total to five. Fedinec made seven saves on the week and continues to lead the conference in goals-against average, save percentage and shutouts per game. The Duhawks will travel to Fon du Lac, Wis. to take on Marian University on Wednesday, Sept. 24, for a 4 p.m. kickoff.

Sep Heerkens was named Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for the second straight time. He scored twice, including a game-winner, and now leads the Duhawks in goals, points and shots taken. Loras will host UW-Platteville on Wednesday, Sept. 24, with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m.
