Duhawks Compete at Cliff Keen-Mike Duroe Invite

MOUNT VERNON, Iowa - The Loras College men's wrestling team tested itself against a tough field at the Cliff Keen-Mike Duroe Invite, hosted by Cornell College. The Duhawks came away with two podium finishes and narrowly missed additional placements.

Trevor Paulson delivered a standout performance at 157 lbs in the Silver Bracket, advancing to the championship match. After a first-round bye, he earned a 12-10 decision in the quarterfinals and followed with a 4-2 semifinal win. Paulson finished as the runner-up after falling in the title bout, securing a silver finish.

Owen Seffrood pieced together an impressive run to place fourth at 149 lbs. He opened with a first-period fall and added an 18-3 technical fall. Seffrood then won 4-1 in sudden-victory to reach the semifinals. After dropping his semifinal match, he bounced back with a 19-4 technical fall in the consolations before finishing fourth following a close sudden-victory decision in the third-place match.

Two Duhawks fought deep into the consolation bracket and came up just short of the podium in their placement matches.

Allen Catour mounted a strong-run on the backside at 165 lbs after an early setback, earning three-straight victories in the consolation bracket, including an 11-3 major decision, a fall, and a 15-0 technical fall. His tournament ended in the consolation first-place match, where he was defeated, narrowly missing a podium finish.

Boden Brokopp also battled through the consolation bracket at heavyweight, recording three wins, including two falls and a 5-1 decision, to reach the consolation first-place match. His run concluded with a loss, leaving him just outside placement.
