MONMOUTH, Ill. – The Loras College men's track and field team opened weekend action at the Larry Wieczorek Invitational at the University of Iowa on Friday and Saturday before competing at the Monmouth Midwest Invitational on Saturday.

Eric Rutherford and Isaac Bourne paced the Duhawks at the Wieczorek Invitational in the 3,000-meter premier flight. Rutherford set a school record with a personal-best time of 8:19.70, while Bourne followed close behind with a personal-best 8:19.73 to rank second all-time in program history.

Ian Fagan turned in a season-best performance in the 400 meters, finishing fifth in 49.92.

At Monmouth, Aiden Ruiz won the mile in 4:36.30, and Colby Cryer claimed first place in the 3,000 meters with a time of 9:11.55.

Steve Edwards added a personal best in the triple jump, finishing fourth with a mark of 12.82 meters.

Up Next: The Duhawks travel to Waverly, Iowa, to compete at the Friday Knight Lights meet hosted by Wartburg on Friday, Jan. 30.
