PELLA, Iowa – The Loras College men's basketball team secured a dominant, 90-60, road win over Central College on Wednesday evening inside P.H. Kuyper Gymnasium.
Central (7-6, 0-4 A-R-C) raced out to an 8-0 lead, but the Duhawks responded with a 17-8 run to put themselves in front, 17-16. Loras (11-3, 5-0) broke the fourth and final tie of the contest at 28-28 thanks to a layup from
Jack Haynes. The Purple and Gold held a seven-point advantage (41-34) over the home team at the half.
The Purple and Gold outscored the Dutch 49-26 in the second half to keep their unblemished conference record.
Haynes led the way for the Duhawks, earning his fourth double-double of the season with 22 points and 11 rebounds on the night.
Gavin Sarvis followed closely behind with 21 points, adding seven rebounds, two steals, and a game-high six assists to his stat line as well.
Johnny Semany and
Deng Makeer rounded out the double-digit scorers for Loras with 11 and 10 points respectively. As a team, the Purple and Gold shot 50.8 percent (33-of-65) from the floor and 47.8 percent (11-of-23) from three.
Kyle Cason paced the Dutch with 14 points, while Braylon Thomsen finished with 12 points. Central shot 36.5 percent (23-of-63) from the field and 22.6 percent (7-of-31) from behind the arc.
