DUBUQUE, Iowa - The Loras College men's wrestling team lost to Wartburg College, 26-6, on Thursday night.
The dual opened at 125 lbs, where
Aidan Gruenenfelder battled in a tight 4-2 decision, but came up short to give the visitors an early 3-0 lead. At 133 lbs,
Connor Fiser dropped a narrow 2-1 decision, allowing the Knights to extend their lead.
At 141 lbs, Wartburg picked up bonus points via a tech fall. However, the Duhawks responded at 149 lbs when
Chase Fiser delivered one of the night's highlights. In a back-and-forth match that went to sudden victory, he secured a takedown and 7-4 decision to put Loras on the board and cut into the deficit.
The Knights answered with decision wins at 157 and 165 lbs to stretch the lead to 17-3. The Duhawks added its second victory of the night at 174 lbs, as
Dustin Bohren grinded out a 1-0 decision to make the score 17-6.
Wartburg closed out the dual with decision wins at 184, 197, and heavyweight to secure the 26-6 team victory.
