Loras Drops Regular Season Finale at Buena Vista

STORM LAKE, Iowa – The Loras College women's basketball team came up short in their final game of the 2025-26 season against the Buena Vista University Beavers on Saturday afternoon inside Siebens Fieldhouse.

The Duhawks (9-16 Overall, 5-11 American Rivers Conference) fought closely with Buena Vista (16-10, 10-6) throughout a back-and-forth first quarter. A three-pointer from Ashtyn Kelderman gave Loras their first lead of the game (5-2) early in the first. After the Beavers fought back to tie the game at five, another Kelderman deep ball gave the Duhawks another lead (8-5). The battle continued throughout the quarter before a pair of Beaver free throws gave them a two-point lead (14-12) which they maintained. The first quarter ended with a score of 21-15, favoring the Beavers.

The Purple and Gold fought back to reclaim a lead early in the second quarter with a three-pointer from Kylie Rigby to make the score 23-21. After some more back-and-forth, Buena Vista went on a 17-2 run that gave them a 15-point lead (42-27) heading into the halftime break.

The third quarter saw the Beavers extend their run to 29-2, they stopped the Duhawks from scoring for the first four minutes of the quarter. The Purple and Gold would enter the final frame with a 24-point deficit (60-36).

The Duhawks fought in the fourth quarter, cutting the lead down to 19 on a layup from Kiah Davis to bring the score to 70-51. Some quality play from Loras cut the lead to 15 points late in the fourth quarter, but it was not enough as the Beavers walked away with a 80-67 victory.

The Duhawks were led by Ashtyn Kelderman who pitched in 20 points on 7-of-18 shooting paired with eight rebounds. Claire Wagner followed with 16 points and 10 rebounds, while Kylie Rigby scored 10 points on 4-of-9 shooting. As a team, the Purple and Gold shot 39 percent (26-67) from the field and 29 percent (7-24) from beyond the arc.

The Beavers were led by Mary Walker who had 20 points. Bradi Krager added 17 while Tyme Boettcher finished with eight points and 11 rebounds.
