NEENAH, Wis. – The Loras College women's tennis team split their two matches Sunday afternoon against the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and Ripon College.
Loras 0, UW-Stevens Point 7
The Duhawks struggled early in the day, dropping all three singles matches to fall behind 1-0 going into singles.
In singles play,
Mary Breitbach and
Lauren Keiper were the only Duhawks to win a set with Breitbach winning the second set of her match 7-5, and Keiper winning 6-0 in the second set of her match.
Loras 6, Ripon College 1
After being shutout in the morning, Loras responded in the afternoon against Ripon College.
The Duhawks got a clean sweep in doubles action to take a 1-0 lead in the match.
Megan Covelli and Breitbach were 6-1 winners over Josie Rondestvedt and Hadley Berendsen at No. 1.
Alexis Tatum and
Brooke Burger were victorious at No. 2 6-1, while
Zara Stoltzfus and
Saydie Roling were winners at No. 3, 6-2.
In singles play, Breitbach defeated Rondestvedt 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1. Tatum was a winner at No. 2, 6-4, 6-2, and Roling defeated Jessi Griepertrog 6-1, 7-5 at No. 4. Keiper was a winner at No. 5 while Burger rounded out the win with a 5-7, 6-2, 10-4 win at No. 6.
Up Next: The Duhawks will begin preparation for their trip to Orlando, Fla. on Mar. 9-12 for five matches.
