Men's Basketball Lands Four on All-Conference Team

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Four members of the Loras College men's basketball program were named to All-Conference teams are released by the league office on Tuesday afternoon.

Jack Haynes earned First Team All-Conference honors for the first time in his career, after garnering a spot on the Second Team last season. The Streator, Ill. native led the team in both points (389) and rebounds (212). Haynes sits atop the conference leaderboard in points per game (18.1) and second in rebounds per game (9.9) in league play. During his senior campaign, Haynes tallied 10 double-doubles. He earned American Rivers Conference Athlete of the Week honors on Feb. 16 after averaging 20.5 points and 10.5 rebounds in a 2-0 week for the Duhawks.

Gavin Sarvis grabbed First Team All-Conference honors for the second consecutive year after averaging 13.1 points, while shooting 45.0 percent from the floor across 24 contests. The Elgin, Ill. native led the Duhawks in assists (73), while also ranking second on the team in steals (29). In conference play, Sarvis finished in the top 10 in multiple stat categories including points per game (15.9 – 7th), field goal percentage (.490 – 8th), and steals (3.2 – 5th).

Nolan Berendes garnered Second Team All-Conference recognition following a breakout junior season. The Dubuque, Iowa native ranked third on the team in points per game (12.9), second on the team in rebounds per game (7.1) and led the team in steals (34). Berendes dropped a career-high 44 points against Wartburg in January, which earned him conference Player of the Week honors.

Damyen Jackson made the most of his rookie season with the Duhawks. The Davenport, Iowa native averaged 7.2 points per game, while also totaling 25 steals, and 44 assists in 26 contests. Jackson scored a game-high and season-high 24 points in the A-R-C Tournament Championship against the University of Dubuque.

The Duhawks travel to St. Louis, Mo. to take on the No. 21-ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Warhawks in the first round of the NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Tournament on Friday, March 6. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:05 from the Field House on the campus of Washington University in St. Louis.
