DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Loras College men's and women's cross country teams opened the 2026 season in winning fashion Friday evening, as both squads claimed first place at the Bob Schultz Invite at the Dubuque Soccer Complex. 

The Loras women turned in a dominant performance, capturing the team title with 20 points behind four runners finishing among the top five and all five scorers placing inside the top eight.

Leitzen picked up right where she left off after winning the 2025 American Rivers Conference individual championship, taking home the individual title with a time of 18:22.3. Junior Ivy Glendening was the next Duhawk across the line, earning a third-place finish in 19:48.2.

Sophomore Savannah Davis followed closely behind Glendening, finishing fourth overall with a time of 19:52.1, while senior Mika Fields made it four Duhawks inside the top five with a fifth-place finish in 19:57.1. Junior Lily Molloy completed the scoring five for Loras, crossing the line eighth overall in 20:24.9.

The Duhawk men matched the women with a first-place team finish of their own, using a tightly packed group at the front of the field to secure the Bob Schultz Invite team title. All five of Loras' scoring runners finished among the top 10, including three inside the top six.

Senior Ryan McGrath led the way for the Duhawks, finishing fourth overall with a time of 15:43.6. Senior Colby Cryer crossed the line just behind McGrath, taking fifth in 15:48.3, before junior Aiden Ruiz finished sixth with a time of 15:54.1. The trio gave Loras three consecutive finishers from fourth through sixth.

Freshman Isaiah Engle made an immediate impact in his collegiate debut, placing ninth overall in 16:05.0. Sophomore Max Lowe rounded out the Duhawks' scoring five just three-tenths of a second later, taking 10th with a time of 16:05.3.
