DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Loras College women's soccer team scored twice in the final 10 minutes Saturday afternoon to rally past Trine University, 2-1, inside the Rock Bowl.

The Duhawks controlled the offensive pace throughout the contest, outshooting the Thunder 28-4, including a 12-1 advantage in shots on goal. Loras also held Trine without a corner kick while generating 17 of its own.

Despite the pressure, neither side was able to find the back of the net during the opening 45 minutes. Loras fired 12 shots in the first half and forced Trine goalkeeper Johannah Houtkooper into four saves, but the teams entered halftime scoreless.

Trine broke through first in the 57th minute when Julia Benham scored at the 56:03 mark to give the Thunder a 1-0 advantage.

Loras continued to apply pressure and finally found the equalizer with just over nine minutes remaining. Gracie Gasmann scored her first goal of the season at the 80:49 mark, bringing the Duhawks even at 1-1.

Just over six minutes later, Emily Bowe delivered the game-winner. Izzy Simonini set up Bowe for the go-ahead goal at 86:51, putting Loras ahead 2-1 with just over three minutes remaining. The Duhawk defense held the advantage the rest of the way to secure the comeback victory.

Bowe finished the contest with three shots, placing all three on goal, while Gasmann scored on one of her two attempts. Allie Stubbendick provided another consistent offensive threat off the bench with four shots and three shots on goal. Lauren Frost added three attempts, while Brooke Steffen, Bella Scesniak, Mayte Navejas and Ciara Johnson each put a shot on frame.

Loras goalkeeper Hannah Fedinec played all 90 minutes in goal to earn the victory. The Duhawk defense limited Trine to just four total shots and one shot on goal for the match.
