Alongside Central's CJ Pestano, Gilliam was named the Iowa Conference Co-Wrestler of the Week. The Shreveport, La. native started the week with a win by fall over Buena Vista's Nick Mitchell. Over the weekend Gilliam went a perfect 3-0 at the Iowa Conference Duals, defeating Nebraska Wesleyan's Justin Hennessy by fall before winning by sudden victory against Clayton Jennings of Luther. In his final bout of the day, Gilliam earned a crucial 10-4 decision over Coe's Garrett Kelson, which sent the dual to criteria, resulting in a win for Loras at 21-20. Gilliam became the second Duhawk to reach the 20-win mark, joining freshman Guy Patron Jr.
