Loras College Athletics

DUBUQUE, Iowa (Duhawks.com) – After fantastic performances this past weekend, the Loras College Athletic Communications department named sophomore Elizabeth Brandenburg and senior Michael Kreiser as the Champpions of the Week presented by Champps Americana on Tuesday.

Brandenburg propelled the Duhawks to a second place finish on Saturday at the Sol Bulter Classic, hosted by the University of Dubuque. The Aurora, Illinois native started off the day with a first place finish in the 55m with a time of 8.63 seconds. The Metea Valley alumnus' time was good enough for ninth place in the Loras record books. Her time also sits as 16th best in the latest NCAA Division III results.

Brandenburg and the Duhawks will continue the indoor season when they travel to Monmouth, Illinois on Saturday to compete at the Midwest Invite hosted by Monmouth College.

Kreiser kicked off an historical night in the first ever men's volleyball match on Friday against Lindenwood-Belleville with 19 kills. Although the Duhawks fell short in a very competitive match, the Roselle, Illinois native recorded a double-double (19 kills/10 digs) and a .326 hitting percentage.

The new team looks to continue their promising season with a Triangular on Wednesday, hosted by Benedicine University. The Duhawks will face Benedictine and MSOE. First serve against Benedictine is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
