Greg Gorton begins his 13th year at Loras College and ninth season as the Head Men's Basketball Coach. The team’s success includes the IIAC Tournament Championship in the 2007-08 season. Loras has represented the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference in the NCAA Division III Championships two of the past nine seasons under Gorton's leadership.

Over the past five seasons, the Duhawks have had 16 Academic All-Conference selections. Over that same period, the Duhawks hold a record of 54-56 in conference play. In his seven seasons as the head coach at Loras, the Duhawks hold an overall record of 103-85. Gorton's first season as head coach saw Loras go 22-7 overall and 13-3 in the Iowa Conference. The 22 wins by the Duhawks was the highest win total in the previous 25-year period.

The 2015-16 campaign marks the eighth season in the Athletic & Wellness Center and Lillis Court. The state of the art athletic facility is considered to be one of the best basketball arenas and weight training facilities in the midwest.

In addition to his responsibilities as a head coach, Gorton has also served as the Athletic Department's Academic Liasion, serving over 550 student-athletes on campus.

“As a student-athlete, if you are interested in competing on a national scale in basketball, utilizing the best facilities and can balance that with a desire to achieve great things in the classroom, there is not a better school like ours in the country," Gorton said.

Gorton came to Loras College from the University of St. Thomas (Minn.), where he played for and coached with Steve Fritz. The Tommies are a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) power and during Gorton’s eight years as a member of the coaching staff, St. Thomas posted a 155-58 overall record and a 121-39 league mark, with four MIAC titles.
