Women's Volleyball Game Notes: Three Tilts on Tap for Duhawks

SERRANO NAMED CHAMPPION OF THE WEEK …
Junior middle, Taylor Serrano, was named Champpion of the Week presented by Champp's Americana the Loras College Department of Athletic Communications announced on Tuesday. In the Duhawks homecoming week match up with the Buena Vista Beavers, Serrano led the Loras attack with 12 kills while hitting .526. She also added a team-high four blocks in the match.

DUHAWKS ROAD TRIP STARTS IN PELLA…
Loras travels to Pella, Iowa on Tuesday to take on Iowa Conference foe Central College. The match marks the start of an eight-game road swing before the Duhawks return to the Athletic & Wellness Center for their season finale on October 29. In last season's match up, the Duhawks fell to the Dutch 3-1.

BACKS AGAINST THE WALL…
After starting their Iowa Conference schedule winless in four matches, the Duhawks have their backs to the wall if they hope to earn a spot in this year's tournament. Best case scenario for Loras is they win out which would put them as a No. 5 or No. 6 seed depending on how the rest of the conference season plays out for other teams.

A postseason berth is not impossible and with the personnel that head coach Jenna Ness has on her squad, is something that definitely can be accomplished.

A PAIR OF WIAC OPPONENTS ON THE HORIZON…
The Duhawks close week eight at the University of Dubuque on Friday where they will take part in a quadrangular with UW-Whitewater and UW-Platteville.

The Warhawks of UW-Whitewater come into the match sitting just outside the top 25 while winning seven straight. Loras is set to face off against UW-Platteville for the second time this season. In their first meeting, the Duhawks came out victorious, 3-0, on day one of the Loras Invite.

The Pioneers carry a three-game win streak into the quadrangular before taking on the Duhawks in the team's second match of the day.

KENTNER TIES LORAS RECORD...
At the Loras Invite, junior Kara Kentner tied the Loras record for hitting percentage in a game. Last season, Danni Kennedy hit an identifcal 14 kills in 16 attacks for the .875 percentage. That mark edges out Brittney Westermeyer who hit .733 against Ripon in the 2010 season.
