DUBUQUE, Iowa (Duhawks.com) – The Loras College Women's Soccer team dropped to 1-2-1 in their past four games on Wednesday night, falling to UW-Whitewater by a final score of 3-2 in double overtime. Senior
Katie Truesdale added two goals to her season tally, giving her eleven goals overall on the year.
Truesdale added each of her goals in the first half of play, finding the back of the net in the 10th and 28th minutes. Senior
Claire Murphy added the assist on Truesdale's opening goal, threading the through ball into the box for Truesdale to find. Loras (6-3-1) outshot UWW 8-5 in the first half. On Truesdale's second tally, it was a long-distance shot from sophomore
Riley O'Neill that came free off the UWW keeper and Truesdale was quick to react and send home the go-ahead goal.
UWW (8-2-0) came out strong in the second half, but Loras' defense was up to the task. The Duhawks' backline stayed strong and refused to cave despite repeated forward attacks from the Warhawks.
Finally the crack in the defensive wall was discovered as a failed clearing attempt by Loras fell to the feet of Mackenzie Serbousek who dribbled her way towards goal and leveled the match at two in the 78th minute.
Neither side could break through in the waning minutes, sending the match to overtime. Neither team had much of an advantage in extra time, but a foul by Loras on UWW's Carly Pottle inside the penalty area gave the Warhawks a penalty kick opportunity with three minutes to play. Pottle stepped to the spot and didn't Whitewater held the advantage over the Duhawks in both Corner Kicks and Shots taken in order to push the game to overtime.
As the minutes wound down in the second overtime the Duhawks surrendered a penalty kick to Whitewater's Carly Pottle. Pottle found the back of the net for the Warhawks securing the victory.

UP NEXTThis weekend Loras will travel to Central College to continue Iowa Conference play. Loras holds a 17-3 all-time record against the Dutch and haven't been beaten since 2007. The Dutch are 6-3 overall and won their conference opener against Buena Vista, 2-nil.
