NAPERVILLE, Ill. (Duhawks.com) - The Loras women's volleyball team notched two victories on the second day of the Tiffany Robinson Memorial Tournament, hosted by North Central. Loras won both of their matches on Saturday by identical 3-1 marks. Freshman
Jenna LaCorte finished the day with 27 kills and 15 digs.
Following a loss to top-ranked WashU, Loras (14-9) looked to rebound against North Central (17-9). In the first set the Duhawks maintained a convincing 22-20 lead, however North Central forced Loras into committing attacking errors and claimed the first set 26-24.

Tied at 20-all, North Central rattled off four straight points to earn set point. Loras, in turn, answered with six unanswered to take set two, 26-24.
Neither team could pull ahead in the third set until senior
Liz Jendra went on a five-point serving run to give Loras the 19-15 lead. The Cardinals responded with a run of their own to take the 23-21 lead, but conceded four straight to Loras, capped by back-to-back kills from LaCorte as the Duhawks took set three 25-23.
With victory in sight, Loras stepped their blocking up and held North Central to a -.021 hitting percentage on the set. Sophomore
Haley Bergan put the game out of hand with a six-point serving run to earn a 17-10 advantage.
Therese Schultz earned the winning solo block securing the fourth set 25-16 and the match 3-1.
In their final match of the weekend, Loras squared off against Robert Morris (7-18) and led with a stellar defensive effort, registering 67 digs in the match, with Began leading the team with 18. In the opening set, the Duhawks scored 17 of their 25 points by way of kills, winning 25-21 in the process.
Leading 1-0, set two was tied at eight separate points early on. Loras' aggressive serving was crucial as they forced Robert Morris to play out of system, making it difficult to run their offense. The Eagles ended the set with back-to-back attacking errors and hit .000 as the Duhawks won the set 25-14.
With the 3-0 sweep in sight, Loras built a 21-18 lead, but a late charge from Robert Morris caught the Duhawks off guard as they surrendered the third set 25-23. Loras was held to a .086 hitting percentage as the Eagles recorded 16 digs and one solo block.
Refusing to let the dropped set affect them, Loras came out strong in the fourth set in dominating fashion. Back-to-back solo blocks by junior

Therese Schultz capped off the fourth set with a solo block of her own to win the set 25-13 and match 3-1.

| Finishing the day with 27 kills and 15 digs, LaCorte put away deciding kills for the Duhawks when they needed it most.
Loras returns to Iowa Conference play on Tuesday in the Athletic & Wellness Center when they host Central at 7:30 p.m. The Dutch are 12-8 on the year and 1-3 in conference play, dropping last week's match to Luther, 3-0.
