No. 19 Men's Soccer to Host IIAC Tournament Championship

DUBUQUE, Iowa (Duhawks.com) -  Following their 3-0 victory over Simpson on Wednesday night in the Iowa Conference Tournament Semifinal, the Loras men's soccer team will host the IIAC Championship Game against crosstown rivals University of Dubuque. This will mark the first time that both schools will meet for the conference championship in men's soccer in each program's history

HOW THEY GOT HERE

The Duhawks come in at 13-4-1 and winners of their last four matches dating back to Oct. 17, including a 2-1 victory over the Spartans on Oct. 27. With their IIAC record of 7-0-0, Loras clinched their 10th regular season conference championship giving them home-field advantage through the IIAC Tournament.
DUBUQUE | The Spartans come in at 12-5-1 giving them the number two seed in the 2015 IIAC Tournament. The Spartans are coming off of a 1-0 victory over Luther in the IIAC Semifinal on Nov. 4. This will mark the first time in program history that they will be playing for the IIAC Tournament Championship. A win for Dubuque will earn them the conference's automatic qualifying bid to the NCAA Tournament.

STAT LEADERS - OFFENSE

Senior Jorge Simon leads the Duhawks with eight goals and two assists in the 2015 season. Simon also is the points leader for the Duhawks with 18 points, which ranks fourth in the IIAC. Loras possesses a multi-dimensional offensive threat, with six players registering four or more goals. As a team, the Duhawks average 2.58 goals per game
DUBUQUE | Junior Gonzalo Hernandez leads the Spartans with 13 goals and nine assists in the 2015 season. Hernandez also leads the conference in goals, assists, and points. Joining Hernandez on offense is Malcolm Phillips who enters with four goals and three assists.

Sophomore Jacob Peterson has been almost near perfect in net for the Duhawks in 2015. Peterson comes in with a 12-4-1 record and recording seven shutouts. Among the seven shutouts, two have come against nationally recognized programs Wheaton (Ill.) and the University of Chicago, both of which were ranked in this week's NCAA Regional Rankings.
DUBUQUE | Senior Riley Jensen comes into the conference championship game with a 11-5-1 record along with a 1.03 GAA. Jensen currently sits in third place in the IIAC for goals against, and save percentage.
