DUBUQUE, Iowa (Duhawks.com) - The Loras Women's Volleyball team takes their five-match winning streak into Tuesday night's showdown with Coe College. Following last week's round of conference play, only one team remains unblemished, with both Coe and Loras entering with identical 1-1 marks.

LAST TIME OUT AGAINST COE •••
In 2014, the Kohawks swept Loras at home, 25-17, 25-23, 25-17. Coe leaned heavily on its seniors Rachel Schaefer and Rachel Bosworth, who combined for 23 kills on 45 attacks. Danni Kennedy finished with six kills on 14 attacks and contibuted two blocks (one solo).

ALL-TIME SERIES AGAINST COE •••
Since 2001, Loras owns an 11-7 record over Coe. However, the Kohawks have won the last three meetings, all by 3-0 scores. The Duhawks' last victory over Coe came on Nov. 1, 2012 at the Iowa Conference Tournament. Loras hit .236 as a squad, including a .327 mark in the fourth set. Four Duhawks finished with double-digit kills and double-digit digs.

SCOUTING THE KOHAWKS •••
Coe enters play on Tuesday riding a three-game winning streak at the NACC/IIAC Border Battle. The Kohawks dropped a lone match on the weekend to Dominican University 3-2. Coe's strengths were put on display against Aurora University when they hit .368 as a team. Overall, Coe has combined to hit .203 for the season, much lower than their high from the weekend. Heading into Tuesday night, the Kohawks lead the Duhawks in four of five main statistical categories. Coe will look to play with an edge as they look to make their way back up the AVCA National Polls.

LIVING IN THE MIDDLE •••
The Duhawks have had success with their middle play under Head Coach Jenna Ness and the 2015 season has been no different thus far. Anchored by junior middle hitters Danielle Kennedy and Therese Schultz, the Duhawk middle attack has combined for 299 kills and a .284 hitting percent through 18 matches. The 299 total kills account for over 36 percent of the team's total kills and the combined .284 percent is first in the Iowa Conference among middle hitter combinations.

BERGAN KEEPS ON DIGGING •••
As of September 26, the Duhawks rank third among the Iowa Conference teams in digs per set. Sophomore libero Haley Bergan is partly responsible for this success. Bergan ranks third individually in the IIAC averaging 5.03 digs per set. She is single handedly responsible for 27 percent of the team's total digs. In the 2014 season, Bergan tallied a total of 534 digs. She has currently recorded 317 digs on the season, and there are still 15 matches to go before the conference tournament. It is likely that Bergan will break her personal record this season as she leads the Duhawks to more success down the road.

HEADING IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION •••
The Duhawks will head into their home match against Coe with momentum on their side due to the current five-game win streak they hold. Before this win streak, the Duhawks had a tough stretch, holding a 5-8 record overall, with three of those losses going to five sets. This streak started last Tuesday night in the AWC when the Duhawks hosted rival Wartburg and outlasted the Knights in five sets. The last time the Duhawks pulled out a win against the Knights dates back exactly five years ago. After last Tuesday's win the Duhawks hosted the IIAC-NACC Crossover Challenge. The Duhawks finished 4-0 on the weekend and came away losing just one set throughout the invitational. Loras has been led so far by freshman Claire Ritchie and junior Therese Schultz. Through the first 18 games Ritchie leads the team in kills with 165 and holds a hitting percentage of .206. Schultz has also contributed heavily by averaging 2.40 kills per set and tied for the team lead in hitting with a .284 mark. Loras will look to extend their winning streak to six on Tuesday night against Coe.

DUHAWKS RIDING 5-GAME WAVE •••
The Duhawks have won 5 straight for the first time since 2010. In the past five games, they only played 17 of the possible 25 sets after picking up three straight sweeps. The Duhawks are 10-8 this season, which puts on us track to trump our 2014 record of 14-19. If Loras can keep their pace like they have the past two weeks than this could set them up for a run in the Iowa Conference Tournament. Being 1-1 in conference play this year, so far, Loras may need to pick up the heat against their inter-conference rival Coe in order to ensure they reign supreme in the IIAC.

RITCHIE SEIZING THE MOMENT •••
Freshman Claire Ritchie is continuing to seize the opportunity starting as a freshman. On the offensive side of the ball, heading into tonight's game against Coe, Ritchie has totaled 193 points. During the IIAC/NACC tournament this past weekend, Ritchie reached double digit points in all 13 sets that the Duhawks played in. Ritchie and the Duhawks look to continue there winning ways this Tuesday night against Coe in the Athletic& Wellness Center.

FIGHTING AGAINST ADVERSITY •••
Although the Duhawks have won 5 straight, they have been bitten by the injury bug over the past few games. Missing valuable freshmen Jenna LaCorte, Reily Kuhn, and junior Tara Blake. The Duhawks highlighted their versatility by being able to adjust to these unfortunate situations. Setters Jenna Erickson and Claire Ritchie have taken the challenge on and have been able to feed the hot hands in the middles. Once healthy, the Duhawks will have several options to look to in order to play consistantly in upcoming conference matches.
