Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's Soccer Blanks Coe, 2-0

DUBUQUE, Iowa (Duhawks.com) - The Loras women's soccer team (10-3-1, 5-0-1) collected their third straight win and fifth consecutive shutout in a 2-0 win over Coe. Junior Lauren Bolnius was credited with the game-winner with her header in the 11th minute. An insurance tally came from sophomore Elizabeth Mills in the 24th minute to pace the Duhawks to victory.

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
First Half
  • The Duhawks spent most of the first 15 minutes in the attacking third, with multiple looks at goal. 
  • In the sixth minute, on a Loras corner senior Hanna Burgmeier leaped to get her head on the ball, but narrowly missed. 
  • Junior Lauren Bolnius opened the scoring in the 11th minute when off a throw-in from junior Gretchen Schutz, senior Madie Avery headed it to Bolnius who was waiting at the near-post and squeezed it in for the goal.
  • Coe had their best chance of the half when Kelsey Fauser took the ball into the box and struck a right-footed shot wide. 
  • Bolnius was involved in the attack again when after beating her mark, she crossed a ball from the near sideline that sophomore Elizabeth Mills got her head on and beat MJ Winterer near-post to give Loras the 2–0 lead. 
  • Freshman Emily Robinson nearly found her first collegiate goal when fellow freshman Savanna Fleeman served a ball into the box with Robinson's bid going inches wide near post. 

Second Half
  • Loras nearly found their third tally when Schutz crossed a ball to the far post that junior Megan Brant headed wide of goal. 
  • Coe possessed the ball in the Loras attacking third with Jessy Holen creating space and striking a right-footed shot near post that senior Maria Siebels corralled. 
  • In the 65th minute, junior Sydney Wright joined the rush from her outside back position and had her cross deflected and fall to the feet of junior Maura Walsh, whose shot missed inches wide of the far post. 
  • A Loras corner in the 66th minute was flicked to the doorstep by Mills with Burgmeier getting on the end of it with a shot on goal that was blocked. 
  • Fleeman stole the ball from the Coe outside back in the 70th minute and took the ball directly to goal for a one-on-one opportunity, but her shot was saved by a sliding Winterer. 

KEY STAT
The Duhawks controlled the match offensively, totaling 24 shots of their own while limited Coe to eight shots.

The Roselle, Ill. native registered her second goal in three matches to spark the Duhawk attack. Bolnius' pressure on the outside opened space for her team to create multiple scoring opportunities.

Loras takes to the road for the final time in the regular season with a road tilt against Simpson on Saturday. The Storm snapped their four-match losing streak when they defeated Nebraska Wesleyan, 2-1, Wednesday night. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m.
