INDIANOLA, Iowa (Duhawks.com) - The Loras women's soccer team maintained it's perfect form as of late, posting its fourth consecutive win and sixth-straight clean sheet, defeating Simpson on Saturday, 5-0. Sophomore
Elizabeth Mills opened the scoring with her fourth of the season before securing her brace less than 10 minutes later.
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
First Half
- After a fairly calm 2-nil win over Coe midweek, the Duhawks wasted no time on Saturday, opening the scoring in the 11th minute on a goal from Mills and an assist from junior Maura Walsh.
- The momentum continued to build as junior Gretchen Schutz smashed a 30-yard bomb into twine for her team-leading seventh of the season to double the lead.
- After assisting on the first two goals, Walsh added a strike of her own 121 seconds after Schutz's to open a 3-0 lead over Simpson on an assist from junior Lauren Bolnius.
- The scoring didn't stop there as the Duhawks connected one more time off the foot of Mills in the 21st minute.
- Loras outshot the Storm 9-0 in the opening half but did not earn a single corner kick.
Second Half
- In comparison to the opening 45, the second half was mild in terms of scoring. Despite increasing their shot total from nine to 15, the Duhawks had six of their seven shots on target saved by Simpson's Zoe Seiler.
- Loras made up for the lack of corner kicks in the opening half, earning 11 in total in the second half.
- Freshman Savanna Fleeman registered her first collegiate goal in the 62nd minute off of Walsh's third helper of the evening.
- At the end of the 90, the Duhawks outshot the Storm 24-4, with a 14-4 advantage in shots on goal.
- Sophomore Gabrielle Pranger made four saves in the second half to preserve the clean sheet after coming on for Siebels prior to the second half.
- When the final whistle blew, Loras had preserved its sixth consecutive clean sheet, dating back to Oct. 5. The current shutout streak stands at 582:13.

Elizabeth Mills | The sophomore midfielder set the tone from the opening whistle and was rewarded for her efforts with the first goal of the match in the 11th minute. Three of her five goals this season have come in the last two matches.
Maura Walsh | Continuing her torrid pace as of late, Walsh had herself a five-point night, assisting on three of Loras' five goals while striking for a goal of her own, bringing her season point total to 16.

The regular season comes to a close on Tuesday with Luther coming into the Rock Bowl for a showdown between the top-two teams in the conference. With both sides deadlocked at a 6-0-1 record and 19 points in the table, Tuesday's result will determine the regular season champion and seeding for the Iowa Conference Tournament.
