DUBUQUE, Iowa (Duhawks.com) - The Loras men's soccer team (5-4-0, 1-1-0 IIAC) suffered a 1–0 loss to Dubquue on Wednesday night. Loras registered 19 shots in the match, but could not convert, conceding a goal in the 88th minute.

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
FIRST HALF
  • Loras put pressure on early and it led to a failed clearance from Dubuque. The ball fell to the feet of sophomore Spencer Moore who struck a shot wide far post in the fourth minute.
  • The Duhawks earned a free kick in the 10th minute, but on the service from senior Alex Bradley, he found the head of sophomore Ryan Ross, but his header sailed over the cross bar.
  • In the 27th minute a Dubuque cross found Gonzalo Hernandez-Cascante by the penalty area and the forward proceeded to shield off his defender and fired a shot that senior Jacob Peterson dove to save.
  • Dubuque earned back-to-back corners in a row during the 42nd minute where Loras managed to clear both opportunities away from danger.
  • Loras' last chance of the half came when a bouncing ball fell to the feet of junior Ike Bruns where he struck a shot on goal that was saved near post.

SECOND HALF
  • In the 48th minute, Bradley jumped on a loose ball in the attacking third by one-timing a shot that Luis Gallardo saved near post.
  • Bradley had the ball on the near sideline and switched the field where he found sophomore Marcus Singleton, but his shot was sent wide of goal.
  • Loras earned a throw-in during the 74th minute and the service was flicked on by junior Chris Paulino towards the far post. A Dubuque defender in an attempt to clear the ball hit it back towards his own goal hitting the cross bar and out.
  • The Purple & Gold earned another free kick and the service went into the box and bounced around, eventually falling to Bruns possessed the loose ball in front of goal and beat Luis Gallardo but his shot hit the far post and was cleared away from danger.
  • In the 88th minute, Gonzalo Hernandez-Cascante possessed a bouncing ball at the top of Loras' 18 and after creating space, delivered the winner.
