MOUNT VERNON, Iowa (Duhawks.com) - The Loras women's basketball team rallied to defeat UW-La Crosse, 74-69. At halftime, the Duhawks went into the locker room trailing by nine. Loras made their way back into the game thanks to senior leadership from
Terese McMahon who scored 15 points, including a perfect 5-for-5 from the free throw line.
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
First Quarter
- The Eagles got ahead early, thanks to two early shots from behind the arc, opening an early 15-4 advantage in the first.
Second Quarter
- Within two minutes into the second quarter, Loras tied the game at 17-all thanks to a 3-pointer from senior Kelly Barzowski, highlighting an 8-2 run for the Duhawks.
- UW-La Crosse responded with a 9-0 run of their own, forcing three Loras turnovers in a span of three-plus minutes, resulting in a 37-28 lead at the halftime break.
Third Quarter
- Loras pulled to within two after McMahon drained a jumper and drew a foul in the process. The senior converted the three-point play to pull the Duhawks within two at 47-45.
- With less than a minute and a half left in the quarter, junior Cyerra Hutchins sunk all four free-throws to send her side into the final frame tied at 53.
Fourth Quarter
- After a very back-and-forth start to the quarter, junior Miranda Chapman drained a 3-pointer to give the Duhawks a four-point lead midway through the quarter at 64-60.
- Loras held onto the lead the remainder of the quarter, as UW-La Crosse committed four fouls sending the Duhawks to the line, converting on 6-of-7 attempts to end the game.

Terese McMahon | The senior had a team-high 15 points and was perfect from the charity stripe, sinking all five of her attempts. McMahon's ability to draw fouls was crucial for the Duhawks, as the Eagles top-two scorers both fouled out of the game during the fourth quarter.

Loras returns to Mount Vernon for the second day of the Cornell Tip-Off Tournament where the Duhawks will face Cornell. The Rams defeated Aurora on Friday night with a score of 76-38. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m.
