WHEATON, Ill. (Duhawks.com) - The Loras women's basketball team fell to 2-2 on the season with a loss to No. 21 Wheaton on Tuesday night, 58-50. Senior Lori Obendorf led the Duhawks with 15 points and eight rebounds.

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
First Quarter
  • Tough defense from both sides kept scoring rather low in the first quarter, with both teams settling for two points within the first five minutes of regulation.
  • Junior Addie Oberman put Loras up with a behind-the-arc shot at the 5:04 mark on an assist by senior Kelly Barzowski
  • With 32 seconds remaining in the quarter, senior Kat Cabrera put Loras up 9-7 with a deep jumper.

Second Quarter
  • Early in the second, Oberman hit her second, 3-point shot of the night, this time assisted by junior Lauren Stanich, to give the Duhawks a 12-7 lead.
  • After a five-point run from the Thunder, junior Cyerra Hutchins and senior Terese McMahon answered with back-to-back jumpers to regain the lead.
  • At the 4:39 mark, senior Erin Weaver took a charge on defense, causing the sixth Wheaton turnover of the night.
  • The Thunder hit two, 3-pointers to end the quarter on a 6-2 run, taking a 23-22 lead into halftime.

Third Quarter
  • The back and forth action continued as the Duhawks regained the lead two minutes into the third with a made layup by McMahon on an assist by Hutchins.
  • The Thunder responded immediately and erased Loras' lead with a six-point run, taking the lead once again with 3:59 to play.
  • Whaton ended the third quarter strong with a 7-0 run, opening a 42-37 entering the final period.

Fourth Quarter
  • The Duhawks were held scoreless for the first 5:30 of the quarter while the Thunder extended their lead to 13.
  • A jumper from Obendorf put an end to the drought, but it was too little too late.
  • All night, Loras found itself in foul trouble, and with 2:26 remaining, the Duhawks were whistled for their 21st foul. Wheaton hit both shots from the line and maintained the heavy advantage on the scoreboard.
  • The Thunder went to the line 22 times, compared to the Duhawks' three, converting on 13 of their chances, with 20 of those opportunities coming in the second half.
  • For the second consecutive outing, Loras struggled from beyond the arc, converting 3-of-15.
