DUBUQUE, Iowa (Duhawks.com) - A fast start quickly faded for the Loras football team on Saturday in front of the home crowd. Dubuque rattled off 50 unanswered points en route to a 60-22 victory. Senior

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
First Quarter
- An interception on the third play of the game from junior Bob Kelly resulted in pick-six for Dubuque, giving the Spartans an early 7-0 lead.
- After a well-placed punt from senior Jeremy Peters pinned Dubuque at their own 5-yard line, senior Damon Davies' strip sack on third down was recovered by senior Calvin Harridge and ran into the endzone to put the Duhawks on the board.
- Minch broke a 51-yard run to put Loras in goal-to-go territory and then punched it in the end zone two plays later for a 15-7 lead after a successful two-point conversion by junior Jonathon O'Brien.
- A quick answer by the Spartans on a long touchdown pass and two-point conversion of their own knotted the score at 15-all at the end of a back-and-forth first quarter.
Second Quarter
- In the second quarter, a litany of Duhawk mistakes provided the means for Dubuque to score twice on defense on their way to four touchdowns in the frame, giving them a commanding 43-15 halftime lead.Â
Third Quarter
- The second half featured more of the same from the Spartans, as they scored touchdowns on their first two possessions of the third quarter to go up 57-15.
- Loras got back on the scoreboard with a 41-yard touchdown pass from Kelly to sophomore Brad Boelkow with 5:26 left in the third quarter to close the deficit to 57-22.
- A field goal by the Spartans to end the third quarter and a scoreless final session from both teams made for a 60-22 final.
