DUBUQUE, Iowa (Duhawks.com) - The Loras women's basketball team fell on the road to Dubuque on Saturday, 52-35. Senior
Lori Obendorf led the Duhawks on both sides of the ball, recording a team-high 12 points and a season-high 14 rebounds.
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
First Quarter
- Strong Duhawk defense forced four Spartan turnovers inside of the first five minutes of the quarter, pushing Loras to an early 5-4 lead.
- A 5-1 Dubuque run put the Spartans ahead 10-5 with 3:07 remaining in the quarter.
Second Quarter
- Loras capitalized on a block from senior Lori Obendorf with a deep jumper from sophomore Jess Brown, bringing the Duhawks to within three at the 4:21 mark.
- The Duhawks converted on a taken charge from senior Erin Weaver in the next offensive possession as junior Cyerra Hutchins drew a foul and made both free throws, pulling Loras with one at 16-15.
Third Quarter
- Senior Terese McMahon earned the offensive rebound, scored on the put-in and drew the foul, converting for a three-point play.
Fourth Quarter
- Dubuque ran away with the game early in the fourth quarter thanks to a 10-point run.
- Sophomore Reagan Friend went on a 4-0 run of her own, converting off a Spartan turnover and foul.
- With 10.0 seconds left in regulation, junior Kate Moriarty ended Loras' drought from behind-the-arc, nailing the 3-pointer shot for her first points of the season.

The Duhawks are back in action on Wednesday as Iowa Conference play continues versus Buena Vista. A year ago, Loras defeated the Beavers in both regular-season contests, winning by small margins of two and three points each. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Lillis Court in the Athletic and Wellness Center.
