CLERMONT, Fla. (Duhawks.com) - The Loras softball team finished their Florida trip with a split including a 13-12 win over Greenville and a 6-0 loss to Hope.

LORAS HIGHLIGHTSÂ
- Greenville began the game with offensive success recording three hits and three runs in the top of the second. Â
- The Panthers increased their lead to 4-0 with a homer by Samsoe in the third inning.Â
- Determined to fight their way back, the Duhawks responded in their half of the third with a leadoff double to center field by sophomore Bria Lenten. Â
- Freshman Nicole Majewski followed with a bunt single and junior Dani Stromert loaded the bases with a walk.Â
- With bases loaded, freshman Megan Larson singled up the middle, scoring Lenten.Â
- Majewski scored on a sacrifice fly freshman Shannon Coyle to cut the Greenville lead to 4-2.Â
- Loras continued its rally into the fourth, beginning with a leadoff single from junior Jess Newton.Â
- Newton would come around to score on a sacrifice fly by sophomore Miranda Chapman.Â
- Stromert reached on an error, which brought home Majewski and Lenten and gave Loras the 5-4 lead. Â
- Greenville responded right away to take the lead back from the Duhawks with two runs in the fifth.Â
- The back and forth action continued as Loras tallied five runs in their half of the fifth.Â
- Freshman Lauren Fritz started the scoring run, smashing her first career home run, which brought freshman Hannah Towns around to score after she reached on a fielding error by the second baseman.Â
- The rally continued with three more hits and a pair of walks, highlighted by a two-RBI single by freshman Shannon Coyle, which gave Loras the 10-6 lead.Â
- Coming as no surprise, the Panthers responded once again, this time to the tune of six runs on three errors from the Duhawk defense, taking the 12-10 lead.Â
- Trailing by two, Loras' comeback bid began with a leadoff walk to Stomert and was followed up by Larson reaching on a fielding error for Greenville.Â
- With runners at the corners, Coyle sent the 1-2 offering to the left field wall, bring Stromert in from second. Â
- Haase ran the count full before delivering a RBI groundout to knot the game at 12-all.Â
- With the winning run 60 feet from home, represented by sophomore Briana Minet, who came on as a pinch runner for Coyle.Â
- A look at strike one gave Towns all the preparation she needed to be the hero, taking the 0-1 pitch to left field for a single, scoring Coyle and lifting the Duhawks to the 13-12 victoryÂ
- In game two, Hope got an early advantage over the Loras, scoring four runs in the first inning.Â
- The Flying Dutchmen added to their lead, tallying two more runs in the second.Â
- Sophomore pitcher Tara Shingler settled down after a rocky start, scattering three hits over the final four innings. Â
- As a team, Loras stranded nine runners on base, unable to capitalize on the six hits and two errors by Hope.Â
- All the offense the Flying Dutchmen needed came in the first two innings, as zeros went up on the scoreboard the rest of the way.Â
- With the win, Hope improved to 7-2 while Loras dropped to 6-8.
FRIEDMAN GROUP PLAYERS OF THE GAME Hannah Towns | The freshman's long ball to left field in the bottom of the seventh in game one scored Minet and lifted the Duhawks to the victory.                                                           Â

The Duhawks will play their home opener against UW-Platteville on Wednesday, March 30. The Pioneers (0-10) suffered a 9-1 loss in their most recent contest at the PFX Spring Games.
