Women's Lacrosse Succumbs to Second Half Rally

ELMHURST, Ill. (Duhawks.com) - The Loras women's lacrosse team dropped to 2–4 on the year in the Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference with a 10–5 setback on Wednesday night against Elmhurst. Senior Kaitlyn Kutsch tallied three times while adding one assist. 
 
LORAS HIGHLIGHTS
  • Junior Hannah Nelson opened the scoring on Wednesday night with an unassisted goal 16 seconds into the match to give Loras the early lead.
  • Both sides traded goals back and forth over the next 20 minutes before a lightning delay postponed the game for an hour and 20 minutes.
  • When play resumed, senior Kaitlyn Kutsch struck for her 23rd goal of the season to give the Duhawks the 4–3 lead.
  • This would be the final lead of the contest for Loras as Elmhurst rattled off four consecutive goals spanning the final 2:20 of the first half and concluding with 25:10 left in the second half.
  • Kutsch put a stop to the run with her third goal of the evening and 24th on the season with 21:14 left in the half.
  • Leading 7–5, the Bluejays responded with three more goals over the final 18:48 of the half to extend their lead and cement the 10–5 win.
  • Kutsch scored one of her three goals from the free position, coming in as the Division III leader, averaging 2.20 free position goals per game.
  • In addition to her offense, Kutsch added 11 ground balls and 10 ground controls on the night.
  • With her third assist of the season coming on Loras' fifth goal, Nelson set a career-high for assists in a season with three.
  • As a team, Loras posted its best clear rate of the season, converting on 14-of-17 clear attempts.
  • The Duhawks also recorded a season-best 28 ground balls.

Kaitlyn Kutsch | The senior tallied three goals and collected one assist in addition to corralling 11 ground balls and 10 draw controls. In the MWLC, Kutsch ranks first in the MWLC in draw controls with 50.
