INDIANOLA, Iowa (Duhawks.com) - The Loras baseball team split with Simpson on Saturday to take three-of-four over the course of their weekend series. The Duhawks found their power stroke in game one, using two home runs to earn an 11–6 victory. The Duhawks fell short in game two, allowing four runs in the bottom of the ninth, before ultimately losing 7–6 in the 12th inning.Â

LORAS HIGHLIGHTS
- Senior Patrick Walsh earned his third victory of the season on the mound, allowing four earned runs though six innings of work. Walsh helped his own cause from the batters box, finishing 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs. His four-bagger in the sixth inning gave Loras an 11–3 lead.
- Walsh finished the weekend 6-for-18 with six RBIs and four extra-base hits.
- Senior Nick Petruzzi relieved Walsh, allowing two earned runs over one inning pitched.
- Sophomore Ryan Koester got things started for Loras, hitting his team-leading seventh home run in the second inning. Koester added a double to his final line, finishing 2-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs.
- The sophomore kept things going in game two of the afternoon, recording a two-RBI double in the ninth inning, which gave Loras a 6–2 lead.
- Loras used freshman firepower in the fifth inning to take a momentary 3–0 lead over the Storm.
- Freshman Danny Paluch tripled to center field, scoring junior Thomas Johnson before Paluch was scored on a single from freshman Austin Konagel.
- Paluch finished the game 3-for-4 from the dish with two RBIs and two runs scored.
- Konagel went 2-for-5 in game one, recording his third multi-hit performance in his last four games.
- The Duhawks were aided by an eight-run sixth inning en route to the victory.
- Junior Tony Heiser recorded a hit in each of this weekends games against the Storm, giving him a four-game hitting streak heading into the series against Wartburg.
- Junior Luke Leibforth extended his hitting-streak to three games after recording hits in each of Saturday's games.
- Sophomore Brad Schwind received a no-decision for his impressive work on the mound. Schwind threw seven innings, allowing five hits, one earned run and two walk, good for a WHIP of 1.00.
- Schwind recorded nine strikeouts, tied for the second most times he's baffled hitters this season.
- Junior Nolan Ritter recorded multi-hit games during both of Saturday's contests, hitting a combined 4-for-7 with a walk.

FRIEDMAN GROUP PLAYER OF THE GAME
Patrick Walsh | Walsh played well on each side of the ball during game one, earning the victory on the mound and helping his own cause at the plate. Walsh hit 2-for-4 with two-RBIs and a home run, while pitching six strong innings.
Brad Schwind | Schwind turned in his second best pitching performance of the season, lowering his season ERA to 5.73 in the process. The sophomore was handed a no decision, but struck out nine Storm batters in the process.Â
