DUBUQUE, Iowa (Duhawks.com) - The Loras women's lacrosse team fell at home to the University of Dallas on Sunday afternoon, 13-6. Freshman
Molly Johnson led the attack, scoring two first half goals in the loss. Sophomore
Sarah Hanson was a part of three goals on the day, scoring one and adding two helpers.
LORAS HIGHLIGHTS - Both Loas and Dallas fought for momentum from the opening whistle, but the score remained gridlocked for the first five minutes of the match.
- Crusaders were the first to make a dent in the scoreboard with 19:33 left in the match.
- With 16:43 to play, senior Kaitlyn Kutsch connected with freshman Molly Johnson to tie the game at 1-all.
- Crusaders were quick to respond and took back the lead with another goal less than two minutes later.
- Trailing 3-1, Johnson tallied her second goal of the half with 9:25 left.
- Dallas closed the first half in a 3-0 scoring run to take a 6-2 lead into the halftime break.
- Less than 60 seconds into the second half, the Crusaders struck for their seventh goal of the game.
- Freshman Molly Dougherty utilized a clean pass from sophomore Sarah Hanson for Dougherty's first goal of the season with 24:44 remaining in the game.
- After back-to-back Crusader goals, Hanson fired back with an unassisted goal with16:41 left.
- Junior Hailey Frederick added her second goal of the season on Hanson's second assist of the game at the 9:31 mark of the half.
- Senior Kaitlyn Kutsch closed the scoring for Loras in the waning minutes, adding her 27th goal of the season. Kutsch has scored at least once in each game this season.
