DUBUQUE, Iowa (Duhawks.com) - The Loras softball team split its final regular season doubleheader on Tuesday in a road matchup with Coe. The Duhawks fell 4–0 in game one but utilized the long ball to take game two, 8–6.
LORAS HIGHLIGHTS
- After freshman Megan Larson's double in the first inning, the Duhawks struggled on offense as they were held without a hit until the fifth.
- Coe was the first to score with Paige Wieland drawing a walk and coming around to score off a single.
- The Duhawk defense was effective in keeping Coe from scoring in the second through fifth innings. On the mound, sophomore Emma Corkill induced a season-high 13 ground outs.
- Unfortunately, the Kohawks bounced back in the sixth, scoring three runs off four hits to take a 4–0 lead, which prevailed for the victory in game one.
- The energy in game two was much different as the team quickly utilized the long ball. With a full count, junior Dani Stromert sent a leadoff home run over the right field fence.
- The Duhawks extended their lead with three runs in in the third. Stromert and Larson began the inning drawing two walks. Then, senior Makaila Haase homered to left field to increase the Loras lead, 4–0.
- The Kohawks responded adding two runs in the third and four in the fourth to surpass the Duhawks and take a 6–4 lead.
- Keeping their composure, the Duhawks kept fighting. They cut the deficit to 6–5 thanks to a sacrifice fly by freshman Lauren Fritz that scored freshman Nicole Majewski.
- Trailing by one in the final inning, the Duhawks rallied for three runs off three hits. Larson, Fritz, and sophomore Briana Minet tallied the runs giving Loras an 8–6 lead.
- Junior Erin Hosch went three up, three down in the bottom of the seventh to hold Coe from scoring and secure the Duhawks' victory.

Megan Larson | The freshman collected the Duhawks' lone extra-base hit in game one, a two-out double in the top of the first. She concludes her season with a .430 average and a .791 slugging percentage.
Makaila Haase | In her final game in the Purple & Gold, Haase's third inning three-run home run gave the Loras offense a jolt that was used to keep the offense moving for the 8–6 win.
