Lauren Stanich and senior
Terese McMahon led the Duhawks with 18 points each. Stanich shot a an impressive 5-of-7 from behind-the-arc en route to scoring her career-high mark.
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
First Quarter
- Loras committed three turnovers in the first three minutes of play, which resulted in a 4-0 Central lead.
- Senior Terese McMahon scored each of the Duhawks' first seven points including a 3-point play after being fouled on a layup.
- Stanich recorded her first points of the night on a 3-pointer to put Loras in front 10-8 with 3:15 remaining.
Second Quarter
- Central started the quarter in similar fashion to the first with another 4-0 run.
- Loras turned the tables on the Dutch, going on their own 4-0 run after an offensive board and putback from junior Miranda Chapman.
- With 2:45 remaining in the half, Loras took a 29-26 lead after two made 3-pointers from Stanich in less than two minutes of game time.
Third Quarter
- With the shot clock running down is Loras' second possession of the quarter, junior Addie Oberman hit a deep 3-pointer to put the Duhawks ahead 38-32.
- Junior Cyerra Hutchins joined the party with a triple as Loras extended its lead to 41-32 with 8:04 to play in the third quarter.
- Back-to-back 3-pointers from the Dutch cut the Duhawks' lead to three at 41-38.
- An 8-2 run from Loras closed the quarter with the Purple & Gold ahead by nine.
Fourth Quarter
- McMahon converted for her second 3-point play of the night, extending Loras' lead to 10 at 52-42.
- Stanich hit her fifth 3-pointer of the night to push the Duhawks up by 16 for their largest lead of the night.
- The Pleasant Prairie, Wis. native sealed the win for Loras with three-straight free-throws.
NOTABLES
- With this conference win, the Duhawks jump to sixth place in the Iowa Conference standings
- Loras scored 14 second-chance points, as compared to four for Central
- The Duhawks out-rebounded the Dutch 50-23 while grabbing 24 offensive boards to only five for Central.
- Stanich's 18 points are a career-high. In Loras' last outing versus Simpson, Stanich tied her then, career-high 11 points.
- Senior Lori Obendorf recorded 11 rebounds in Wednesday's win. That marks the fourth time this season Obendorf has collected double-digit rebounds.
