DUBUQUE, Iowa (Duhawks.com) - With four bonus-point victories, including two falls, the Loras wrestling team upset No. 10 and previous undefeated Central, 24-18. Junior Awais Arain and freshman Guy Patron Jr. posted back-to-back pins and sophomore Quin Gilliam sealed the dual victory with a major decision at 285#.

WINNERS
Clint Lembeck | 149# | Marion, Iowa | Xavier
With his team trailing 12-0, Lembeck built off the momentum from sophomore Joey Riordan's effort at 141# and took control from the very beginning. Before the first period was complete, Lembeck was in complete control thanks to a takedown and six points via near fall. After conceding an early takedown, Central's Jordan Challen scored the first points of the second period with a reversal, only to have Lembeck return the favor before adding his second four-point near fall of the bout. In complete control and searching for the tech fall, Lembeck scored a reversal in addition to another four-point near fall for the win, 23-4.

Jimmy Davis | 157# | Aurora, Ill. | Waubonsie Valley
Hoping to improve to 10-0 and defend his national ranking, Davis jumped out to an early lead in the first with a takedown and a two-point near fall at the buzzer. After starting down to begin the second period, Davis earned his escape but conceded a takedown to Central's Jeremy Vester. Unable to escape, Davis entered the final frame ahead 5-2. Vester scored a takedown in the third period in short time, but was unable to bring the deficit any smaller as Davis held on for the 6-4 win.

Awais Arain | 184# | Plainfield, Ill. | Plainfield East
A.J. McBroom opened with an early takedown on Arain, but the junior was quick to reverse the tide and scored a reversal before securing the cradle and the pin at the 1:31 mark of the first period. Arain's win brought the Duhawks to within four points, trailing 18-14 with two bouts remaining.

Guy Patron Jr. | 197# | Harvey, La. | Jesuit
For the second time this season, Patron Jr. and Seabold met on the mat and didn't disappoint. After Patron Jr. defeated Seabold 8-4 at the first tournament of the season, there was plenty of eyes and emotion on Thursday's showdown. Off the opening whistle, Seabold's double for the legs  was defended off by Patron Jr. Seconds later, Patron Jr. got his arms locked in under Seabold and used the over-under to get Seabold off balance before using an inside-trip to get him to his back out of bounds. After more back and forth, Patron Jr. hit a slick takedown but couldn't quite secure back points. After a stalemate, Patron Jr. almost got himself into trouble but a good scramble avoided Seabold from scoring a reversal. Once neutral, Patron Jr. tucked his right foot in and put Seabold to his back with a lat-drop, giving Seabold no choice but to concede the fall with five seconds remaining in the first period.

Quin Gilliam | 285# | Shreveport, La. | C.E. Boyd
With all the momentum on its side, Loras turned to its heavyweight in Gilliam ahead 20-18 in the dual. The sophomore opened the scoring with a single-leg in the first period. Unable to escape, Central's Jaime Miranda went to the second period, trailing by two. After choosing down to start the second, Gilliam quickly got his escape to take a 3-0 lead into the third. With Miranda down, Gilliam turned the senior to his back and scored a crucial four-point near fall, all but sealing the bout and the dual for Loras.

OUTSTANDING WRESTLER
Guy Patron Jr. |
In a rematch of the championship bout at the UW-Platteville Super 8 Invitational, Patron Jr. provided plenty of fireworks, defeating two-time NCAA National Qualifier and All-American Matt Seabold for the second time this season.
