MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
First Half
- Six turnovers by the Duhawks aided Nebraska Wesleyan in opening an early lead at 19-9.
- Loras proceeded to cut the deficit to one after a 7-0 run, with all points being scored by sophomore Ryan DiCanio.
- With 8:34 to play, sophomore Michael Mims pushed the Duhawks back in front with a 3-pointer at 29-27.
- Neither team managed to find its comfort zone from beyond the arc, combining to go 4-of-17 in the opening 20 minutes.
- For the fourth consecutive game, Loras took a lead into the half, this time ahead 41-35.
Second Half
- Following a 3-pointer from Dacy-Seijo to start the half, the Prairie Wolves assumed control for a 14-4 run over the next 5:25, resulting in their first lead since the 8:59 mark of the first half.
- The lead was short-lived for Nebraska Wesleyan, however, after senior Justin VanWambeke made two from the line and Mims made his jumper to put the Duhawks back in front.
- As what the story would turn out to be in the second half, neither team managed to open a significant lead before the other found a way to come back.
- With 10:21 to play, senior Christian Mathis scored three of his 18 points on the night after completing the and-1 after a hard foul near the basket.
- Down the stretch, it was Loras' free-throw shooting that kept them in the game, making 7-of-8, compared to 9-of-14 for the Prairie Wolves.
- With time winding down and the game tied at 87, VanWambeke turned to his go-to and drove the lane, drawing contact to earn a spot at the charity stripe, where he made both of his attempts.
- Nebraska Wesleyan needed only nine seconds to equalize as Deion Wells-Ross tied the game with an off-balance layup with four seconds remaining.
- After a timeout, Loras put the ball in the hands of DiCanio who audibled on the floor and found Dacy-Seijo alone in the corner and as time expired, the freshman let go of his shot before watching it drop through the twine for the win, 92-89.

Loras is set to host its crosstown rival, Dubuque, on Saturday inside the Athletic & Wellness Center. The Spartans are one of two teams in the Iowa Conference to defeat the Duhawks this season, but after their win over Loras, Dubuque went on a five-game losing streak and currently sit at 6-9 overall. Tip-off is scheduled for 4 p.m.
