Women's Volleyball Sweeps IWU in Season Finale

DUBUQUE, Iowa (Duhawks.com) - In the final match of the 2017 season, the Loras women's volleyball team finished with a clean sweep of Iowa Wesleyan. Seniors Haley Bergan and Morgan Potts combined for a total of 30 digs in the last game of their career's. Sophomore Kelly Boge posted a match-high 11 kills and hit .318.

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
-Loras opened up with an 8-0 lead in the first set as sophomore Kayla Kinney compiled three of her six kills in the opening run
-Kinney then went back on a six-point service run, picking up two aces
-Sophomore Jenna LaCorte put away back-to-back kills to give the Duhawks set point at 24-7
-The second frame went back and forth until Loras eventually broke out and forced three Tiger errors to close out the set 25-16
-A five-point service run from sophomore Jessalyn Roling put the Duhawks in front 9-3 early in the third set
-With Potts in the front row, the Duhawks attempted to help her register her first kill Iowa Wesleyan closed the gap 22-20
-LaCorte closed the match out with back-to-back kills to finish the three set sweep, 25-21

NOTABLES
-Sophomore Michelle Budden finishes the season as the team leader in kills (298) and attack percetnage (.207) … Heading into her senior season, Budden needs 57 kills to reach 1,000
-Kinney led the team with 45 service aces, finishing with two on Friday … She finished three kills shy of 200 for the season
-Bergan capped her senior season with 18 digs and 534 for the year, averaging 5.39 per set
-Boge's 17 solo blocks and 57 assisted blocks led the Duhawks this season as the Wahlert Catholic prep average 0.85 blocks per set
-Bergan concludes her career at Loras with 2,326 digs while averaging 5.32 per set, which is currently third among all active NCAA Division III student-athletes … Bergan holds the all-time Loras record for digs in a match (43) and career digs

FRIEDMAN GROUP PLAYER OF THE GAME - KELLY BOGE
The sophomore middle led all hitters on Friday with 11 kills and a .318 attack percentage while adding a pair of blocks. Friday marked the seventh time this season that Boge has finished with 10 or more kills in a match.
