Women's Volleyball Swept at Buena Vista

STORM LAKE, Iowa (Duhawks.com) - The Loras women's volleyball team saw its three-match conference win streak snapped on Friday night, falling to Buena Vista in three. Sophomore Michelle Budden finished with 13 kills to lead the Duhawks.

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
-Trailing 17-12, the Duhawks rallied back on a 9-3 run tying the game at 20-all.
-After losing the first set 25-23, Loras turned the tides with a 6-2 run to start the second set
-Midway through the second set, the Duhawks tallied four in-a-row with a kill from Budden and a service ace from senior Haley Bergan
-Early in the third set, Loras trailed 4-1 before a 4-0 run 1-4 and picked up 4 in a row to take the lead 5-4
-Buena Vista responded with a 4-0 run of its own midway through the set to take the lead at 17-15 and added a second 4-0 run to take the lead, 22-17, before claiming victory in the second set, 25-19
-The Beavers rattled off an 8-0 run in the third set to take a commanding lead at 12-5
-Despite six kills by Budden in the third set, the Duhawks fell 25-15

-Bergan passed 2,200 digs for her career with a new total of 2,205
-After Friday's match, Budden needs 3 kills to surpass 400 for her career

FRIEDMAN GROUP PLAYER OF THE GAME - MICHELLE BUDDEN
Budden recorded double-digit kills in her sixth-straight match. The Hazel Green, Wis. native tallied 13 kills on 38 attempts, with six of those kills in the third set.

Loras continues its western road trip on Saturday with an Iowa Conference showdown against Nebraska Wesleyan. The Prairie Wolves dropped its seventh consecutive match on Friday, falling to Dubuque in three. First serve from Snyder Arena is set for 2 p.m. on Saturday.
